Activates zoom by extent, allowing you to draw a box on the map where you'd like to zoom to.
Resets map to default view.
Shows layer switcher panel, allowing you to turn on and off individual layers.
Activates fullscreen mode, expanding the map to fit the whole screen. To exit fullscreen mode, press esc key or the button.

Legend & data provenance can be accessed by hovering over buttons located next to each entry in the layer switcher. The legend / metadata panel can be locked / unlocked by clicking on these buttons.
The Facilities, Ecosystems Monitoring and Important Bird Areas layers can be queried by hovering then clicking on the clusters or squares. This will generate a small popup with basic information. Further information is accessible by clicking on the button within the popup. Additionally, clicking on the zooms the map to the location of the feature.
The Important Bird Areas (IBA) metadata window includes a 'Criteria' field, e.g. 'A4ii', which when hovered over gives IBA selection criteria as defined in the 'Important Bird Areas in Antarctica 2015' report. This report is downloadable via the Environment Research & Assessment website.
